What should I do with 4 days in or around Tokyo?

Imperial Palace tickets

Excited for you, Tokyo is a wonderful city.

,If this is your first time.

Be aware that taxis from Narita airport will be expensive.

The great thing is that there is a bus that runs from the airport straight to downtown Tokyo.

It is terrific.

You can see the times here: http://www.

jp/en/platform_searches/index/4/59nTickets are 3000 yen ($30) and the service is great.

When you get out of baggage claim and through customs, the Airport Limousine counter will be right in front of you.

You cant miss it.

They take credit cards if you dont have cash at this point.

Taxis also take credit card.

,Whenever I had someone visiting, this was my go-to list of things to do.

As Im not sure what your specific interests are, take a look and pick and choose :) ,,Drinks at Park Hyatt (Lost in Translation) http://kokoa41.

Tokyo Imperial Palace

The current Imperial Palace in Tokyo was built by a Japanese construction company.

The name of the company escapes me.

It was built during the late 1960u2019s as I recall for the sum of 1 Yen.

The value in the job was prestige for the company not the fee for construction.

Imperial Palace opening hours

Eggs Benedict at Bubbyu2019s Restaurant.

They open at 730am.

I recommend the salmon and avacado eggs benedict.

And thereu2019s bottomless coffee.

,Pokemon GoWhat better way to spend 2 hours than chasing after a Bulbasour? The station is teeming with these little guys.

,Imperial PalaceA short walk from the station.

Maybe you can get a peek of the Emperor in his PJu2019s drinking his morning tea.

Imperial Palace Hotel Tokyo

Einstein was in Japan in 1922 for delivering a lecture series.

It had just been announced that the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics would be awarded to him.

,(Image source- Wikipedia),At the Imperial Palace Hotel in Tokyo, a courier was delivered to his door.

Einstein did not have small change to give tip to the bell boy.

So he gave him a hand written note in German-,u201cA calm and modest life brings more happiness than the pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness.

(source- www.

org),These words shed light on the musings of one of the most brilliant minds in modern times.

Einsteinu2019s theory of happiness and life advice may not be as famous as his theory of relativity, but is definitely worth sharing!,And as far as its economic worth is concerned, the note was auctioned for $1.

6 million at an auction in Jerusalem!!

Imperial Palace Kyoto

,For the Imperial Palace (Kyoto Gosho, u4eacu90fdu5fa1u6240) you do not need a reservation anymore.

You cannot go in any of the buildings - just walk around outside them.

,Honestly, it is not as interesting as the others.

Aside from the Gosho, there is the Sento Imperial Palace, which is right by it, as well as Katsura Rikyu and the Shugakuin Villa.

For the latter 3, you need reservations ahead of time or you can try and take your chances as a walk-up.

Lately, you might have a chance, but once the covid pandemic subsides and the tidal waves of tourists start going to Kyoto again, I would not recommend just as a walk up.

,Katsura Imperial Villa - certainly very very nice.

There is some debate as to which is u201cbestu201d - the Katsura Rikyu or the Shugakuin Villa.

It really is like comparing apples and oranges though- they are different places.

Katsura charges 1000 yen though, while the rest are free.

,Shugakuin Imperial Villa - Another gem.

I would choose to see those 2 first.

If you still want to see the Gosho as well, you can.

But if not, or you donu2019t have time, honestly, you are not missing that much - Kyoto has a lot better places.

Tokyo Imperial Palace interior

Im not sure about the interior.

But from the pictures, it is obvious Imperial Palace in Tokyo doesnt share same architectural design as Gyeongbokgung and Forbidden City.
