For a single traveler, what is the best way to spend 3 or 4 days in the Philippines?

Cheap hotels in Mactan Cebu

If you want to be in the country, then get out of the city ! Leave Manila as quickly as possible and head to Cebu, where you are close to Diving and related activities and also close to Cebu City.

I suggest that Mactan would be a good place to be and good clean, cheap hotels can be found for $ 20.

00 per night ! Some might even provide Breakfast !

Hotel near Airport Manila

unfortunately, cheap and safe dont go hand in hand with hotels near out airport.

If youre ok with affordable, Remington Hotel located inside the Resort World complex across Terminal 3 is your best bet.

Because of its affiliation with Resort World, security is ok, with amenities suitable to your perceived budget.

Bai Hotel to Mactan Airport

There are several places developing in Cebu which can be considered u201ctrendyu201d or u201ccool to live atu201d and these usually revolve around commercial centres and easy access to everything.

This is based on my observation after living almost 3 years in this island.

In no particular order:,Banilad - the business district of Mandaue particularly along AS Fortuna Street.

Several condo developments such as Midpoint, Midori and the upcoming Astral.

Several malls and business districts such as Oakridge, Jmall, Banilad Town Centre, Gaisano Country Mall.

Lots of coffee shops, Starbucks, Coffee Bean and Tealeaf, Namoo, A plus Coffee, etc.

The traffic is always heavy at this area and when it rains some portion become heavily flooded otherwise this is a convenient area where you can have access to most things.

,Cebu IT Park - It took many years but careful planning and development made this area almost not like Philippines as this place has first world standards eg wide sidewalks, proper sized roads, accessibility to PWD.

A lot of commercial centres, coffee shops, restaurants and condos and upcoming mall.

The home of BPO industry and call centres open 24hours.

It also has several coworking spaces and fast internet.

If you venture outside, there are more restaurants, massage places, malls (eg JY Square) and cool social scenes such as La Vie Parsienne.

,Parkmall - the area where you can locate Bai hotel, the trendy Mandani Bay condo development, Northdrive and City Times Square.

There are 2 affordable coworking spaces here offering fast internet: one at Northdrive and one beside Parkmall the Workplace Cafe.

There are several coffee shops and plenty of restaurants to choose from.

This place has most everything youu2019ll need or want including easy access to good hospitals such as Chong Hua and UC Med.

,Fuente-Jones-Capitol - the original nightlife of Cebu and the red light district along Mango Ave - though looks old and unkempt but still offers plenty for everybody.

There are new condos sprouting up eg Horizons 101, Baseline.

Thereu2019s a public city library which is free and open up to midnight.

And the best hospitals are in this area (Chong Hua and Cebu Doctoru2019s University Hospital).

,SRP or South Road Property - although far but easily accessible via SM Mybus.

This is where the SM Seaside is located - 3rd largest mall of the Philippines.

Condo developments include City Di Mare and San Remo Oasis.

Newly opened mall: Il Corso Lifestyle Mall and soon to open: Cebu Ocean Park which will be the largest in the Philippines.

Once the third bridge is finished, it can easily be accessed from the Lapu-Lapu island.

,In Lapu-Lapu, the upcoming trendy areas are Pusok where Marina Mall is, close to the airport; Mactan Newtown, Tamiya and City Times Square of Lapu-Lapu, although I kind of avoid going here during weekdays due to the insane traffic here.

,Hope that helps.
